Charlottesville ledgers and notebook, 1912-1945.

The collection contains the University of Virginia history and economics notebook of James K. Symmers, Jr., 1927. The book also contains an English literature reading list, sports schedule, and grades. A 1912 daybook from an unidentified store in Charlottesville, Va., contains accounts with Prof. B.E. Tonsler, Dr. G.R. Ferguson, Mrs. E.A. Alderman and the wives of several University professors, Caroline Preston Davis, and the Jefferson School. The back of the volume contains some credit accounts. A journal from an unidentified store in Heards, Va., 1914, contains accounts for groceries and small sundries for area residents. A ledger, 1938-1945, from an unidentified Charlottesville store or business contains accounts with many local people and firms from Albemarle and surrounding counties including Farmington Country Club, Martha Jefferson and University of Virginia hospitals, Fishburne Military Academy, and Alberene Stone Corporation. A ledger from Inge's Grocery, 1943, 1945, has two invoices to G.P. Inge laid in and includes accounts with Monticello Dairy and First Baptist Church, West Main Street (for grape juice and bread.).
